Short title: Shaping future roles and career progression of radiation therapists (RTT).

Keywords: Radiation therapist; education; training; technological advancements; role expansion; career progression

Motivation:

As technological advancements continue to revolutionise radiation therapy, the roles and responsibilities of RTTs are set to undergo significant transformation. This workshop series aims to explore expert perceptions of RTT education, training, role expansion, and career progression on a global scale.

Advancements integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into clinical practice or refinement of technology and techniques for image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), surface-guided radiation therapy (SGRT), advanced treatment planning, particle therapy, patient education tools, and other significant technological advancements, will be examined. These evolutions are poised to elevate the precision and effectiveness of treatments, while necessitating continuous professional development and evolving competencies for RTTs.

Through interactive Q&A sessions and focused breakout groups, we aim to identify the educational needs and training requirements essential for RTTs to adapt to these technological shifts. The insights gained will result in a position paper, providing strategic recommendations for education, training, and career development frameworks that align with the future of radiation therapy.
