Abstract Text

There continues to be inequality within radiotherapy skin care assessment. This talk aims to highlight differences in how radiation induced skin reactions present across all skin tones while introducing more inclusive terminology to describe reactions. This terminology will be presented with methods of identifying reactions using touch rather than relying on visualising alone. By using a combination of touch and visuals, patient reported outcomes have the potential to empower patients and healthcare practitioners to work together to identify reactions earlier and provide earlier management. This presentation will introduce anti-racist education to ensure all patients are treated with a person-centred approach to tackle this health inequality.
