New MoUs signed for the ESTRO RTT Alliance - PDF Version

The Radiation TherapisT Alliance (RTT Alliance) of the European SocieTy for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) aims to strengthen the voice of RTTs at international level and it plays an important role in the improvement of recognition and professional development of RTTs across Europe. The ESTRO RTT Alliance offers a platform for RTTs within national societies to network and to share information and best practice between societies and to access the ESTRO scientific and educational network. The alliance wants to promote cross-fertilisation of learning and ideas and to form a critical mass of RTTs with common interests.

Membership of the alliance is based on agreements that are signed between ESTRO and a national society that represents RTTs. These agreements apply to both European and international societies. Individual members of the partnering national societies can become ESTRO members at very favourable rates. The list of the national society members of the RTT Alliance and information on how to join the alliance can be found on the ESTRO website: ESTRO - RTT Alliance membership.

We are happy to announce two new memoranda of understanding (MoUs) that have been signed between ESTRO and the French Society of Radiologic Technologists (Association Française du Personnel Paramédical d’Electroradiologie, AFPPE), and between ESTRO and the Swiss Association of Radiographers (Schweizerische Vereinigung der Fachleute für med.-techn. Radiologie , SVMTRA).

AFPPE

It’s now a few weeks since the French RTT association, AFPPE, joined the ESTRO RTT Alliance. This partnership was long-awaited by the French RTT committee of AFPPE. This rapprochement is necessary to form a cross-Europe strategy for radiotherapy, and future dialogue will be beneficial to develop ideas about our profession and our speciality, not only in France but also in other member countries. We know there are diverse systems in Europe regarding RTT initial training and clinical practice, and through this partnership we would like to see increased consideration of how training and practice should evolve, especially in advanced practice. We consider that shared experience is an important asset for all RTTs and for patients' benefit. This perspective is an opportunity to work better together to improve our practice and to move towards a Europe-wide system of radiotherapy.

SVMTRA

The members of SVMTRA in Switzerland are very thankful and proud to be new members of the ESTRO RTT Alliance. Networking and professional contact within professions continually becomes more important. Therefore, it is a pleasure to be part of Europe's largest professional radiation therapy group. This alliance offers many benefits, not only for the SVMTRA as a professional federation in Switzerland but for each RTT as well. International continued education, guidelines, meetings and relationships are only a few of the many advantages that this partnership provides for everyone.

Thank you ESTRO for the warm welcome and we look forward to a fruitful, interesting and fun collaboration with the RTT Alliance.

ESTRO

As RTT Alliance representatives, we are very happy to be connected with French and Swiss colleagues. It remains our goal to unite within ESTRO all professional organisations that represent RTTs. Such unity will promote our role and dedication to the work. As one group, it is possible to create links with regard to common themes, such as training, the exchange and elaboration of guidelines, and the exchange of experts within certain domains of our work area.

Both France and Switzerland have highly trained colleagues. We are pleased that we were able to link them with ESTRO and that highly committed colleagues can also play a role in ESTRO through this alliance.

We hope to welcome representatives of both associations to the online Meet and Greet in June. We also look forward to personal meetings during the live congress in Madrid at the end of the summer.
