Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium 2024

This special symposium on management of gastrointestinal (GI) cancers will cover the latest innovations in the prevention, diagnosis, and multidisciplinary treatment of GI cancers. The meeting will cover a wide array of topics of international interest regarding cancers of the oesophagus, stomach, colon, rectum, anus, etc.

Local and international leaders in their respective fields have been invited to speak, as clinical and radiation oncologists, morphologists or other specialists.

The main topics of discussion will be:

  • statistical data regarding GI cancers in the Georgian population;
  • systemic treatment of different GI tumours;
  • total neoadjuvant (systemic and radiation therapy) treatments for rectal cancer;
  • the role of chemo-radiotherapy in the management of GI cancers;
  • the role of surgery;
  • the role of MRI in the diagnosis of rectal cancer;
  • microsatellite instability in rectal cancer treatment; and
  • malnutrition in GI tract cancer.

There will also be interesting case presentations.

The symposium will bring together oncology and non-oncology professionals (clinicians, clinical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, palliative medicine specialists, morphologists and residents of different oncology disciplines) from around the country to discuss new paradigms in the care of patients and treatment of GI cancers.
