Program Preface
The management of prostate cancer has undergone a profound transformation over the past decade, marked by the introduction of novel therapeutic strategies and technological advances that have redefined diagnostic and treatment paradigms. In this rapidly evolving landscape, stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) has emerged as a pivotal modality, offering highly conformal, image-guided treatments capable of delivering ablative doses with precision and safety.
The 1st Symposium on SBRT for Organ-Confined and Oligometastatic Prostate Cancer has been conceived as a multidisciplinary forum bringing together radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and researchers to explore the current state and future directions of SBRT in prostate cancer care. The meeting aims to promote a constructive exchange of knowledge and experience, emphasizing both the clinical potential and the technical challenges inherent to this rapidly expanding field.
Scientific evidence increasingly supports the role of SBRT in both localized and (oligo)metastatic disease settings, demonstrating excellent local control, minimal toxicity, and significant benefits in terms of patient convenience and quality of life. The symposium will provide an in-depth analysis of the technological innovations that have enabled these achievements, ranging from advances in treatment planning and image guidance to real-time tracking and motion management systems.
Particular attention will be devoted to emerging topics such as adaptive and biologically driven treatment strategies, the integration of SBRT with systemic therapies, and the clinical implications of combining local and systemic approaches. Discussions will also encompass translational research efforts aimed at identifying biomarkers of response and toxicity, paving the way toward truly personalized radiotherapy.
Through keynote lectures, interactive clinical case sessions, and multidisciplinary round tables, the symposium seeks to foster an evidence-based, patient-centered approach to prostate cancer management while strengthening collaboration among institutions. By bridging technological innovation and clinical application, this event aspires to contribute to the shared evolution of radiation oncology and to consolidate SBRT as a cornerstone of modern, precision-based prostate cancer therapy.
