The ESTRO Upper Gastrointestinal Focus Group is a team of experts dedicated to supporting the activities of ESTRO Councils and Committees in upper GI oncology.
The Focus Group serves as a platform for interaction, facilitating the exchange of existing knowledge and the development of future activities related to oesophageal, gastric, liver, and pancreatic tumours. Its role includes assisting in the development of technical and clinical guidelines, planning and executing educational events, distributing and analysing surveys, and supporting the dissemination of scientific content. ESTRO Councils and Committees can also seek input and assistance from the Upper GI Focus Group.
Given the highly interdisciplinary nature of upper GI oncology, the Upper GI Focus Group aims to harmonise current and future scientific and educational projects, both within ESTRO and by actively engaging with other professional societies, such as the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO), the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL), United European Gastroenterologists (UEG), and the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC).
The Upper GI Focus Group welcomes the interest and suggestions of all ESTRO members, with the ultimate goal of advancing patient care through the rigorous application of evidence-based medicine and the continuous education of radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and radiation therapists (RTTs).
