ESTRO signs memorandum of understanding with the American Brachytherapy Society - PDF Version
The European SocieTy for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) has signed a collaboration agreement with the American Brachytherapy Society (ABS) to organise the four-yearly World Congress of Brachytherapy.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed at the ABS annual meeting, which took place between 13 and 15 June 2019 in Miami, Florida, USA.
The MoU covers the collaboration of ABS and the Groupe Européen de Curiethérapie (GEC)-ESTRO to run the congress, which is held every four years. ABS and GEC-ESTRO will organise the meeting alternately.
At the signing, ABS was represented by its President, Peter F. Orio III, and ESTRO by the chair of the GEC-ESTRO brachytherapy committee, Bradley Pieters. Regarding the agreement, Pieters said: “Partnership is the key to optimal health for all our patients, and brachytherapy is indispensable to that partnership.”
This is another demonstration of ways in which ESTRO seeks to forge strategic links with radiation societies outside Europe.
