ESTRO signs memorandum of understanding with the Association of Medical Physicists of India (AMPI) - PDF Version

The European SocieTy for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) has signed a collaboration agreement with the Association of Medical Physicists of India (AMPI) to further strengthen the profession of Medical Physics. It is recognised that Medical Physics as a profession has become a global enterprise, and that on the worldwide medical physics community needs to collaborate a range of issues.  Therefore, increasing scientific interactions and strategic relationships between AMPI and ESTRO, are in the interest of both societies as well as both medical physics communities.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) therefore, seeks to define such a relationship and to identify areas of interest where collaboration between AMPI and ESTRO could be most synergistic such as in education, scientific activities and joint membership.

At the signing, AMPI was represented by the President, Sunil Dutt Sharma and the Secretary, Shobha Jayaprakash, and ESTRO by the President, Ben Slotman and the Chair of the Physics committee, Catharine Clark.

Regarding the agreement:

AMPI said: “The MoU between ESTRO & AMPI will help in promoting each others’ educational & scientific activities which will be of mutual benefit to both organisations. This collaboration can further be utilised to organise educational events.”

Chair of the ESTRO Physics committee, Catharine Clark remarked “The new MoU with AMPI will open up exciting new opportunities for ESTRO to work closely with our Medical Physics colleagues in India. Of particular interest are educational and scientific activities of mutual benefit, which we look forward to working on together and developing frameworks for the future.”
