Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping radiation oncology. To help practitioners better understand the broader framework behind this transformation, the international course “AI in Radiation Oncology: From Foundations to Clinical Integration” will be held on 15 January 2026 at the Genolier Innovation Hub, Switzerland. The event is organized by Unicancer Formation and officially endorsed by ESTRO.
Far from being a purely technical or tool-based tutorial, the course offers a multidisciplinary perspective on AI, combining legal, ethical, and economic frameworks with selected technical insights relevant to clinical practice. It is designed for radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and clinical researchers seeking to critically engage with the foundations and future of AI in radiotherapy.
The programme is structured into four sessions. The first will provide a broad overview of AI in medicine, clinical oncology, law, and data governance. The second session will focus on technical foundations, with an in-depth look at automatic contouring algorithms. The third will address medical imaging, radiomics, and predictive modelling, highlighting key challenges in reproducibility and clinical translation. The final session will explore the ethical, legal, and economic dimensions of AI deployment in radiation oncology, including bias management and real-world implementation.
Unlike previous technical workshops, this course is intended to foster critical and cross-disciplinary reflection, paving the way for responsible, patient-centred innovation.
