Endorsed by ESTRO, SEETRO 2025 gathered over 200 radiation therapists (RTTs) from across South-Eastern and Eastern Europe. The site of this year’s Congress was particularly significant, as Istanbul is symbolically positioned between Europe and Asia, reflecting SEETRO’s mission to connect and to strengthen collaboration among RTTs across diverse regions. The event provided a vital platform for professional exchange, education, and advancement in radiation therapy practice.

The main theme, “Advanced Practice in Radiation Therapy and the Role of RTTs”, highlighted the expanding responsibilities, knowledge, and leadership of RTTs in modern radiation oncology. The scientific programme featured insightful lectures and discussions from internationally recognised speakers, including Yat Man Tsan, Mary Coffey, Michelle Leech, and Philipp Scherer. Their contributions inspired participants to develop their expertise in advanced radiotherapy delivery, education, and patient care.

The online workshop was focused on adaptive radiation therapy. It offered participants an opportunity to observe patient treatments performed using MR-Linac and Varian Ethos systems. This hands-on educational experience emphasised the growing importance of technology-driven adaptive approaches in precision radiotherapy.

Workshop

Beyond the scientific sessions, SEETRO 2025 encouraged social and professional interactions. On the first evening, participants enjoyed a scenic Bosphorus boat tour, while the Saturday social dinner provided a friendly atmosphere for networking and strengthening regional partnerships.

Closing session

The Congress reaffirmed SEETRO’s commitment to the advancement of RTT education, harmonisation of professional standards, and the fostering of collaboration across South and East Europe.

The next SEETRO Congress will continue this mission in Belgrade, Serbia, in 2027, further promoting excellence, innovation, and unity within the RTT community.
