Piotr Wojcieszek M.D., Ph.D. (born 1980 in Zabrze, Poland) graduated from Silesian School of Medicine in 2004. He started his work in the Radiotherapy Department of MSC Cancer Center and Institute of Oncology, Gliwice, in 2005. In 2011, he moved to Brachytherapy Department. He is a specialist in Radiation Oncology since 2011. In 2013, he took his PhD on vestibular schwannoma radiosurgery from MSC Cancer Center Gliwice. He is head of the Brachytherapy Department in MSC National Research Institute of Oncology, Gliwice Branch (former MSC Cancer Center Gliwice) since 2017. In 2013, he started his research on local prostate cancer recurrence treatment, especially with HDR brachytherapy. He is also interested in skin cancer and interstitial techniques. In 2019, he was elected as president of the Polish Brachytherapy Society. He believes that modern brachytherapy has its place in interdisciplinary oncology, particularly for patients with a high risk of failure features.
