The "Assisi Think Tank Meeting" (ATTM) is a brainstorming project on breast cancer which was conceived in 2014, resulting in the first meeting in 2016. It involves a number of European radiation and clinical oncologists who are dedicated to breast cancer research and treatment and is endorsed by the European SocieTy for Radiotherapy & Oncology (ESTRO).  The ATTM aims at identifying key clinical questions in current clinical practice and “grey” areas requiring further research to improve management and outcomes, mainly related to radiation therapy. Before each meeting, three key topics are selected. Clinical practice in these areas is investigated by means of an online questionnaire. In the time between the conducting of the survey and the actual physical meeting, the 3 working groups review available data, on-going studies and the clinical challenges. All this is compiled together and then discussed in-depth including intense brainstorming during the meeting itself. Based on this, studies and research protocols are proposed and developed.

The 4th ATTM key topics which were selected for this edition are:

  1. Tailoring indications, target volumes and doses;
  2. Combining radiation therapy and immunotherapy;
  3. Re-irradiation.
